Team Baseby Racing are pleased to say that on Saturday 10th November, Mark got back in the saddle at an open practice at Sittingbourne.
After completing two sets of 4 laps on Aarons bike, Mark confirmed that he is feeling good and felt that he had never been off the bike which is great news.
Aaron also looked really sharp as the lads kept up their winter training.
Next week we will be seeing a couple of potential sponsors, both of which we are really excited about.....more news hopefully soon.
Team Baseby Racing were all in attendance at the Mildenhall Fen Tigers Presentation night on Saturday night and for Mark it was a great night with him picking up a number of awards, including the Fen Tigers Shareholders Shield for Most Improved Rider.
With the Mildenhall promotion also making sure that Aaron was involved and talking to him about his future a good night was had by all.
Both Mark and Aaron would like to thank all the fans and sponsors at both Mildenhall and Sittingbourne for all their support last season.
Well its the end of the season for Mark & Aaron now.
We will be spending the winter getting both lads fit and ready for the 2008 season and working on the bikes.

In the meantime we are still looking for sponsors for next season, so if you are interested please contact us at:

).
They seemed to create a lot of interest and the feedback was very positive.
Dont forget these shirts are available to purchase (and pictures of the shirts will be on this website in the next couple of days). Check out the Merchandise page for details.
On Tuesday night at West Row, Mark received the money that had been collected for him at the last home meeting from the Fen Tigers Supporters Club.
Mark would like to thank all the fans who donated to the collection, it is very much appreciated.
We will keep you up to date with progress on Marks injury over the coming weeks.
On Thursday 13th September Mark went back to hospital for further checks and unfortunately the news is now that Mark has dislocated his collerbone as well as the ligament damage.
He will be in a sling for a further 4-6 weeks, (the Doctors say 6, Mark says 4
).
He is in good spirits and cannot wait to get back to racing.
Mark will try to get down to West Row next Tuesday to see everyone and thanks everyone for their support, best wishes and the collection last week.

Aaron takes centre stage this weekend as he takes his place in the Sittingbourne Crusaders line-up on Sunday in the home double header against Plymouth and Boston.
Aaron will line up at reserve for the Crusaders in the last home meetings of the season.
Details will be posted on Monday.
Following two crashes at West Row last night, Mark sustained severe ligament damage around his collarbone.
Early indications from the track last night were that Mark may have broken his collarbone and possibly his clavier (sp).
After X-Rays on the following morning though it was confirmed that the collarbone was not broken but that there was severe ligament damage.
Mark will be in sling and out of action for a minimum of six weeks which means his season is over.
We will keep you up to date with progress as Mark starts his recovery.
It has also been confirmed by the Mildenhall promotion that there will be a collection for Mark at Sundays meeting against Rye House and we would like to thank them for this.
Mark rides for the Mildenhall Fen Tigers tonight at West Row against the Newport Wasps.
Marks fantastic displays have left Mildenhall Team Manager, Laurence Rogers with a problem as Mark is nearing 12 meetings for the Fen Tigers this season which means we would gain an official average for next season. The problem facing Rogers is that Mark is averaging over 4.00 at the moment but if he does not complete 12 meetings he will start next season on a very attractive 3.00 average.
Rogers and Team Basesby Racing will be discussing this over the coming week to decide what is best for both parties.
Finally, watch this space for some potential great news regarding Aaron in the coming weeks.

An inside report this week as Nikko went "behind the scenes" and worked alongside Mark and Aarons Dad Paul in the pits for the meeting at Boston.
Arriving at the stadium an hour and a half before the meeting, it was a case of a quick bite to eat and then unloading Marks and Aarons bikes from the van along with all the spares, suits etc.
As Paul had set the bikes up before the trip it was a case of minor adjustments after we had inspected the track and then it was down to warming the bikes up as the lads got ready. There is no other way to discribe standing in the pits when 14 bikes are all going at the same time except for LOUD !! Thank goodness for the ear protectors.
It was going to be a busy night with Mark or Aaron out in Heats 2,4,5,6,8,9,11,13 and 15 and so we decided that I would stay by the track with the chain lubricant ready for when the lads came back from a race while Paul got the other bike ready. In case you have ever wondered what the mechanics are doing when the riders come off the track and the mechanics are spraying something onto the bike - it is chain lubricant spray that goes onto the chain as the rider revs the engine - now you know.
This seemed to work well and the only other minor adjustments on the night were to change the gearing and turn both real tyres mid way through the meeting so we could use both sides of the tread.
The meeting itself was a mix bag for Mark, two good wins a second and then two falls and Aaron struggled at first on the huge Norfolk Arena track before a supurb second in Heat 8 as the Crusaders went down 55-38.
Then its time to pack up the van and head off home.
Thanks to Mark, Aaron and especially Paul for letting me help (hope I wasnt too much in the way) and it certainly showed another side to speedway experience.

On a night that will live long in the memory for Fen Tigers fans, Mark made an impressive start to his Fen Tigers PL season with a battling 3+1 from three rides.
Clearly up for it before the meeting Mark went out in Heat 2 and, in bizarre fashion, came second behind teammate Tomas after James Brundle, who atcualy finished the heat in 2nd place was then excluded from the heat by the referee for not having a dirt deflector on his bike.
As Mark commented after the meeting, " I saw that Brundles bike had no dirt deflector and I told Assistant Manager Blayne Scroggins. I battled to try and beat Brundle on the track but I am happy to start with a 5-1 after his exclusion".
Mark followed this up with a fourth place in Heat 7 behind exc Elite League riders, Nermark and Lee and teammate Paul Fry but Mark was always in the race.
Marks final ride saw a third place in Heat 11.
After the meeting, Mark was introduced to the fans at the press conference and recevied a great reception alongside match winner Tomas who was 0.02 seconds from the track record in Heat 2.
Early comments from the fans show that they appreciate Marks all action style and effort and speaking to Marks Dad and mechanic Paul after the meeting all at Mark Baseby Racing agreed that it had been a good debut.
When it becomes clearer who the other rider is we will update the site with the meetings Mark will be racing for the Fen Tigers for the rest of the season.

On the 2nd July the Mildenhall Fen Tigers announced that they had released reserve Mark Thompson and replaced him with Mark Baseby and another rider who would be announced in the coming weeks. Mark and the new rider will share the reserve berth for the rest of the season while continuing to ride for their respective Conference League sides.
Mark is really looking forward to riding in the PL for his parent club and his first meeting couldnt be more difficult as it is this Saturday at West Row against last years Champions, the Kings Lynn Stars.
More reaction throughout the week but all at Mark Baseby Racing wish Mark "Thommo" Thompson all the best for the rest of the season.
In a close meeting, Sittingbourne went down 43 - 52 to Stoke.

Its Marks first meeting of the Conference League season on Easter Monday when the Crusaders take on the Rye House Raiders at Rye House in the first leg of the KO Cup.
Against one of the top CL sides in the country this will be a very difficult start to the season but Mark is ready to go and cannot wait to start this seasons campaign.
Mark sets out on the Under 21 qualifers in the next couple of weeks when he rides in the qualifier at Weymouth alongside brother Aaron.
More details to follow
Today we are pleased to confirm that Mark has joined his brother Aaron at Conference League Sittingbourne Crusaders.
Mark has decided to concentrate on Conference League racing this year although he is also the Mildenhall Fen Tigers No 8 for their Premier League campaign.
Mark is really looking forward to riding full time at Iwade this year as its a track he knows well and has ridden for many years.
It will also help that Mark and Aaron will ride together and so Team Baseby are united for any season.
Meeting reports will follow over the coming weeks.
Following a good winters practice at the Old Gun Site, Sittingbourne, Mark is looking forward to a closed testing session with the Fen Tigers at West Row next week.
Mark is also looking to attend the Fen Tigers Press & Practice day on Wednesday 14th March.
In Conference League news Mark has signed a CL contract but we are awaiting permission to release the name of the team.
Marks brother Aaron has been signed by the Sittingbourne Crusaders.
Photos from the closed testing session and P&P day at West Row will follow later this month.
The Fen Tigers completed their 2007 Premier League line up today with the announcement that Jamie Smith joins at No 4.
This means the full line up is, in riding order:
1. Mario Jirout 8.00
2. Shaun Tacey 6.19
3. Kyle Legault 7.00
4. Jamie Smith 4.04
5. Tom P Madsen 6.29
6. Jason King 4.76
7. Mark Thompson 3.00
8. Mark Baseby 3.00
In Conference League news the CL gradings have been published with Mark graded, as last year, as a Grade 3.
Considering Mark is looking to ride as a CL Heat Leader or Second String this season this low grading will make him much sort after.
Marks brother Aaron has been graded as a Grade 1 which is the reserve grading.
In an exclusive chat with this website Mark outlined his thoughts for the new season.
Having spent the winter training hard and also practicing all winter down at Sittingbourne, alongside brother Aaron, Mark is really ready for the upcoming season.
Firstly we spoke about becoming the Fen Tigers No 8 and Mark was really looking forward to racing at Premier League level but decided alongside dad Paul that it would be better for this season to do this from the No 8 spot and gradually gain experience rather than be thrown in full time in one of the reserve spots. Mark was keen to stress however that he was looking forward to opportunities to race again at West Row for the Fen Tigers at some point this season and would be looking for the full step up next year.
Secondly we spoke about Marks Conference League aspirations for the 2007 season. At the moment there is no official confirmation of which team Mark will line up for in the CL but he will be looking to build on last season and be a regular CL Heat Leader this season. Once the official announcement is made we will update this site to cover both the Fen Tigers in the PL and Marks CL club with regular scores and updates from Mark himself. Also we will have a page for Aaron Baseby who will be looking at securing a CL berth for the upcoming season.
Finally Mark, and Paul, wanted to wish all the fans at West Row a Happy New Year and look forward to seeing everyone soon.

On Sunday 18th Novemeber 2005 Mark signed on the dotted line and became the 5th rider to agree to ride for Mildenhall for the 2006 season. Mark has now become a Mildenhall asset freeing him from his Rye House obligations.
Mark, having spent last season as a Crusader and endearing himself to the Kent crowds with leave a lot of dissappointed fans, but with Sittingbournes still as yet unceratin future Mark feels it is time for him to move on.
He was voted Sittingbourne supporters club rider of the year and he will be sorely missed.
Mark can still be seen as ever practising around the Old Gun Site, and we wish him well fo the coming 2006 season.
